    ... the 1990s war destroyed despite being listed with Unesco. We are fortunate in Aus for so many of the old buildings as we travel have been rebuilt/restored as a result of wars.     ... mountain and coast, the food, the prices especially of fresh fruit and veg, the 'rough diamond' feel - it's not groomed, polished and managed, the friendly people, the cultivation on every viable patch of ground.
    What are our reservations? The raw reminders of a horrid past, a sense that there was so much we didn't / couldn't understand but probably most of all the LITTER! It was everywhere - mostly plastic- bags and bottles.

    ... in Albanian cities, often the manhole covers have been stolen." Evidently it's quite a slick operation. A van cruises the streets and stops over manhole. There is a hole in the floor of the van and whilst the vehicle is stopped, a fellow inside, fishes for the manhole cover. We saw a car with it's front right wheel firmly wedged in the gaping hole.
