This is the life

Living the Dream is the only way to describe our experience in Mykonos. This place was definitely something special. First off, we were so happy to not be haggled by people left and right like in Morocco. Secondly, the hotel we were staying at was top notch. They surprised us and gave us the nicest room in the place with the biggest balcony right above the sexy pool and closest to the ocean overlooking the whole coast. Also, they sent us a bottle of bubbly in celebration of our honeymoon as w...

Mosaics and Lions in Delos

Delos is an incredibly interesting place. The entire island is a collection of ruins where no one is allowed to stay on the island overnight so everyone who visits are day trippers—most of whom are staying in Mykonos. It was an excellent day for exploring ruins at just over 60F degrees it was cool and pleasant. There is a lot to explore on the island so be sure to leave enough time to see it all.

There are no complete building standing, but ...

A few days in Mykonos

... beautiful place with the village full of white-washed buildings scattered around a maze of little streets and alley ways. Just at it seemed that Santorini was made for couples, Mykonos was make for singles and the party life. This is one place that I want to return to again.
Cruising and coughing

... to not get so caught up with what you've achieved in life, as to get caught up in how you are living and celebrating life. Because I promise you, one day all of our oh-so-important-stuff is going to be washed over just like the Romans. And we'll be a quaint little blip on the map of history.

Um. Sorry. I went a little deep there. Perhaps those thoughts are better saved for my journal than my hippity hoppity fun blog!

Okay, so, Mykonos today and then ...

our very first cruise

... amount and variety of food available on board was impressive and heartening as we had a self-service meal in the Lido Restaurant.
Our cabin (or stateroom as they were always called) had an unobstructed view to the sea across the Lower Promenade Deck right outside the window. It was very well organised, spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable with plenty of storage space and a large ...

So you would think on the last day we would be off going crazy but its a little cloudy today so we just had a little walk to the harbour and had some coffee and cake and then went and got some pasta sauce to go with the left over spaghetti that we had and had a lovely lunch in then just sat and read our books caught up with washing underwear and repacking and washing backpack then got ready and had to drag myself out for ...

Mykonos

Took the hydroplane from Santorini to Mykonos. Stayed right on the beach and the cruise ships docked right down the beach. Island topography not as dramatic as Santorini but very nice. Surprised how dry and little vegetation on both islands. Got my whole body in the Mediterranean not just my feet (no pictures of that !!)

Setting sail and Mykonos

... that this had never happened before, it was obvious that it had, and that with only 6 hours to resolve this problem that they would not be on the ship. So sad, and to be so far from home. She had an Indiana accent. So after a predictably delightful dinner, we went up to the Sun Deck to help hoist the sails. They always play Command and Conquest from the movie 1492, a suitably stirring piece. It was just ...

Wannabe jet-setters: trendy, fun, and expensive

We began our sail from Syros to Mykonos with very high winds, a very nervous skipper and an over-sailed crew. We stopped about 30 minutes out for a quick swim, and quickly broke the winch that pulls up our anchor. Our skipper was freaking out...we were stuck in some random cove with no one around and he had no knowledge of the boat. "Zis is very bad, very bad..." he would say. Eventually he called our former skipper who alerted him to the fuse box, and we were on our ...
