Our last port of call is Katakolon and whilst many are heading to Olympia we have decided not to go back for a second visit. As an alternative we have decided to stroll the streets of the port - all three of them.

Yesterday I got to Vartholomio. Thia Maria and Zoe were waiting at the bus stop at Gastouni for Papou and I. Upon arriving, we went past the shops that they have there. Zoe owns a sweet shop right next door to Dionisi's mini market. Across the road, Thia Maria and Thio Yianni work in the newsagent shop. Zoe took us to the house were we had some lunch. In 1953, Zakinthos suffered a series of devastating earthquakes. This resulted in the total destruction of the island’s infrastructure and destroying much of the original Venetian influence. Only three buildings on Zakinthos remained standing including the St. Dionysios Cathedral of which I posted a photo.

We slept in late this morning and had Rupesh bring us coffee. Around lunchtime we headed up to the pool deck and had a burger, which was pretty good. Then we went into the hot tub and read by the pool for a little while.

After that was the spa for both of us to get massages. They were expensive, but wonderful. It was a very restful day. We came back to the suite and ...
