... wind. Mark was wearing shorts. Will be zero at the Mt? We are now in the bus going there, will see.

Arrived at Mt Fuji, the 5th step (total of 9 steps). very foggy, windy and cold. Sooo foggy that the top of the Mt was fully covered. So we walked around in the shops, the food was good though, corn and Mt Fuji cake (must try).

Taxi heading for onzen now, FujiYama Onzen. About 1000¥ taxi from the train station. The price for this Onzen (1800¥) ...

We landed at Hakone-Machi and walked along an avenue lined with cedar trees which was built in the 1600’s on the orders of the shogun to provide shade for the travellers.

... as you enter, put on house slippers for the corridors, and enter the bedroom with bare feet only. You even have to have special toilet slippers for the loos.

Dinner was served at six. The inn had sorted out a veggie meal for us of vegetable tempura, pickled lettice, shredded daikon radish, spinach, seaweed soup, cooked pumpkin and rice. It brought back good memories for Joan.

Day 2: Izu Skyline

All I can say is, you MUST ride this, and any/everywhere on the Izu Peninsula at some point in your life. You must do this especially if you consider yourself a keen moto tourer.
