Today I write to you from a lounge hut at a hostel in Olympus, Turkey. We arrived three days ago after failing at walking our bikes up a hill, being picked up by a drunk Turk and his son, watching a 30 minute sheet of rain, accompanied by hail, thunder and lightning, convincing the minibus driver to put two bikes on the bus with all but the name of a hostel I briefly glanced at before the rain started and the wifi cut out. Spent our 2 days here relaxing on the cushions under the shade at Bayrams and swimming at the beach. A nice reprieve! The people were friendly, the free dinners delicious and the surroundings beautiful.

2 - Number of split zippers we found on our backpacks after one of our night bus trips. We discovered that two of our locked zippered compartments on our big backpacks had split zippers after arriving in Goreme. These backpacks were stored underneath the buses in closed luggage compartments, but somewhere during those many rest stops we suspect there was foul play with people messing with our bags. Nothing appeared to be missing and whoever was searching ...
