    ... in St Petersburg but Talin they thought is so small its just as well we are only there for a few hours, we will reserve judgement until we have been there.

    At another stop just along from the waterfront was a huge crane it was 150 metres high and yes you guessed it bungee jumping at a cost to the jumper of 100 euros. Why would anyone do it?

    Its a very clean city with trams and buses and it seemed to be reasonably priced. Its not a huge city ...

    Holiday? Stop working?

    ... it), and it easily occupies my mind, so the means of detaching myself from it have to be extreme.

    May 2015 was the coldest in Finland for 50 years, and June doesn't seem to get much warmer. That doesn't bother me much. From tomorrow onwards it's going to be sunny and hot for the next 5 weeks - in Galilee, Israel.

After we returned to Helsinki Jan and I explored the city centre, which included a visit to Stockland, the oldest department store in Helsinki, before having coffee in the old Market place. We also walked through the outdoors market, tasting the berries, cherries and sweet pastries on offer. The flower stalls are particularly stunning.     ... 4pm the next day after checking out from this room in the morning with my bag again, so too much hassle. They had Swedish and Finnish tv. One channel was showing Uk soap Emmerdale.

    ... off-season), I was up early and walked a couple of km to the tourist office. On the way I climbed the steps and entered the Helsinki Cathedral in Senate Square.

    After securing my tour ticket I kicked around Market Square waiting for the bus to arrive. There is an adjacent park area that would look so different in the summer. Just sayin'
