Jelenia Góra ('deer mountain') is about couple of hours south from Wroclaw (trains or buses). It is close to the Karkonosze mountain range running along the Polish-Czech border. ... I could make a wrong first impression. But I am a very sensitive and warm-hearted person. Although both of us have enough of seeing each other for now, I have this impression things have "clicked" in between us. And if there is no "click" in between people, it`s hard to build up a friendship, or even, as my friend would say, a "rough friendship". The time will show whether we will be able to continue our relationship.

I'd love to make it back to these parts some day, and do the seven hour hike from Mt Sniezka to Mt Szrenica, at the western end of the park near the town of Szklarska Poreba. Unfortunately, that wouldn't be happening for a while as I only had another 6 weeks left in Poland before I was to fly to Scotland to begin a position at a summer school. Nevertheless, it was a great opportunity to see a part of the country I'd never seen.

9/10/07 Day 71 Today we travelled into the Czech Republic to a town called Trutnov just across the boarder near the alps. it's a cold day but the roads were gratefully uneventful and we arrive in the afternoon. January 26 Finally after the long and crowded bus ride (where I stood the whole way), we arrived slightly tired in Trutnov and went to her father's place. ... then walked decided to eat at the hotel restaurant; very cute -- like dining in a peasant's courtyard, but clean, and with orchids. After dinner, the rain had let up, and it was still light. So we walked to town and had ice cream and capuccinos in a very cute cafe -- candles on the table, wood burning in the corner fireplace. At hotel, Kyla was very hyper. We played a game of cards; I won.
