We woke up rather late and had to rush down to breakfast. Getting out of bed when it's in the floor is tricky! We decided to go to the modern art gallery as the weather forecast was improving as the day progressed. The gallery was a fabulous space - the first thing to greet you was the incredible dotty flowers by Yayoi Kusama who is now world famous but was born in Matsumoto. Her exhibits were extraordinary all dotty. We loved the huge pumpkin room & mirrored rooms. We went ...

Leaving Tokyo was a bit stressful to say the least. We had 2 bags to forward to 2 future hotels on our itinerary. It had been a great 10 day holiday – we can’t wait to come ...

So that was our skiing for this year at Nozawa Onsen - we had lovely spring conditions (no ice), warmer than we expected, but it was also lovely to have some fresh snow too (in April). The kids improved their skiing and we are looking forward to coming back in January 2016!

... co-grooming, and general monkeying around. (sorry. not really. ;)

While the snows, clearly, had been melting, there were still several inches of snow and ice on the sides of the trail and occasionally on our path to the park. For a ‘National Park’, this place did not have the infrastructure that we come to enjoy in many of the parks in the states (e.g., Mount Rainier). The trail was poorly maintained, the signage was limited (and often hand-written, ...
