... backpack on my back and the small one in front. Quite a sight.
Liepaja has retained much of its past although much in poor shape. In late 1800s it was apparently a thriving resort town. Many beautiful homes with a large, wooden, Russian architecture. Some have been restored and are majestic. The tourist map from the Info center is very good and provides a good walking route to get a feel for the ...
... fried potato thingy - the Absinthe made us do it). We tacked on up, hugging the coast with its lovely beaches (but though it was often sunny, unfortunately at 15 degrees only the bloody insane were anywhere near the water). Latvia's roads are pretty good if you stick to the main ones, but that's not really our style. The 'unnamed' roads are mostly unsealed dirt and potholed to buggery, so ...
Liepaja, Latvia roamingmonkHello, I arrive in Latvia 4 days ago. Many things happen since, Where to start i don't know. I've met already lots of people since then. This city Liepaja is the Latvian's rock city, place where in the hard rock cafe or (rock cafe) you have the most famous Latvians singers performing on a small stage and almost nobody give attention ( cause they are used to it), except this crazy Russian guy singing "yesterday" ( beattles) on the stage, that was the "big up" of the ...
Liepaja, Latvia karimico... as a child was to one day work for Enron ... As we lay in the bunk beds (Mary decided to go on the bottom, after all ...), somehow the subject turned to Tri and his horrid gas problems. Being a little delirious from my sickness, I told her that my gas was happy and had side effects like that of laughing gas. Just before I dozed off, I looked deep into her eyes and asked "Wanna come get happy with me?"
Liepaja, Latvia pwongDay 14 Leipeja, Leipeja is only slightly less hideous in daylight and after an hour I have seen everything that counts for a sight in the center of town. The only thing of real note was a display of local dancing which was part of a children´s event to mark the first day of school. However this is not my main objective for the day which is to head out to the old Soviet port area to the north of the city, Karosta. Once a sealed military base it is now ...
Liepaja, Latvia markprendergastOur short stay in Liepaja just wasn't long enough. Our hostel was about 2 blocks away from the beach and it bloody rained. That didn't stop us from going to the beach though. We went out one night with some people from the hostel, but mainly just chilled out playing air hockey, wathing DVD's and drinking.
Liepaja, Latvia kate_and_kane... and a TV in the room were good freebies and at least I ended up with a dorm room to myself, so was able to catch up with the news a little. Liepaja is a bit of an ugly, soviet industrial port city, with very little to recommend it. Even the town beach wasn't anything special, especially having just come from Neringa. However, the northern beaches near Karosta, a former soviet naval base, were ...
Liepaja, Latvia mrconfused... of the hostel we were staying in, however it was marked off the map, so although we knew we were on the right road, we didn't know how far we had to go. It turned out to be a very long way. We walked in the full sunshine for about 25-30 minutes to get there, through some rather strange run down industrial area and a dodgy housing estate, but finally we arrived at, what looked from the outside to be fairly a run down, Hostel Blize! Inside ...

Liepaja, Latvia yellowdragon... way. He will refuse to give you a reply for half an hour. He will just tell you that it is the rule. The streets are really dirty in winter. Capot everywhere. One day the snow is melting. The next day new snow flakes are falling from the skies. Beautiful snow. I love the snow here. I love it, because when it snows it means that it is not so cold today. My head has gone crazy during the last days. Maybe I shouldn't have ...
