Dinner tonight is in their French restaurant. We are welcomed by an English speaking waiter from Sri Lanka. Knowing he would have English speaking guests, he had kindly translated tonight's menu into English and printed it out for us. The food is surprisingly delicious and beautifully plated, you don't quite expect a French chef in a family type resort in Kusatsu. As it turns out the chef had worked at the embassy in Italy which explains it ...

As it turns out we are the only people in the Japanese restaurant, the first course of our Kaiseki dinner is already waiting for us on our table. One of the courses is pork Shabu-Shabu, quite tasty! ... for sledging.

Back to the hotel for a quick pack up and then the long journey back to Tokyo airport with bus, bus, train, train, bus. All a lot of fun in Japan and that probably sums up Japan. The people are the most polite and respectful I’ve ever met. Everything is very different but really interesting and it’s definitely a country that I’d like to come back to. The skiing was great and although ...
