I have just been to paradise. Have spent 4 days in absolute luxury. I went with friends of JIlls, so 5 very lovely expat wives. We had the most luxurious rooms with fantatsic food, some wonderful massages, scrubs, soaks etc. Then other activities included stargazing- floating on a lilo on the pool gazing at the stars with gentle music so romantic- I'm going there for my next honeymoon!
Also did little craft classes, cooking, yoga and martial arts.
JUst fantastic.
... driver just used a pole to push us along, it was very peaceful and serene. I was surprised at how dense the mangroves were – and fortunately, no mozzies, which I had been expecting!
Leaving the village near the mangroves, I stopped to talk to a young family. They invited me in to sit with them on their little pagoda for awhile and whilst they couldn’t speak much English, we got by fairly well with my basic Indonesian. They live a fairly ...
... or anything like that, just in shock and my body was shaking. The first thing I wanted to do was get right back on my bike so I could drive away to safety as fast as I could. I was a little embarrassed over what happened. I thought I was such a good motorbike driver and here I was all scraped up after a fall. Okay, I'm sure the rain had a lot to do with the fall also, but still, I blame myself. After a couple minutes though, I knew I couldn't drive just yet. I ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia snclark8... to do that, but very abnormal for me to feel anywhere near comfortable as I walked by without looking. The walk was beautiful, but rice fields are everywhere here and I feel like the view of them are the same most everywhere. It was definitely not as beautiful as my run, I thought. But then, the most special thing happened: all of a sudden we hear our names being called from across the rice fields and see three girls and a boy come running towards us ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia snclark8... were three or four low bamboo bridges that we had to lie as low as possible in the boat to avoid, and then a 6 meter drop at the end...awesome! PHOTO_ID_L=buggie-rides.jpg PHOTO_ID_L=after-the-buggie-ride.jpgTha t evening we spent on jimbiron bay having a candle light dinner....very romantic, haha. it was gorgeous we watched the planes land and ate a very nice meal. Densepar, Bali, Indonesia robynk... was now preparing for the Barong parade! So, we dressed back up in our traditional Balinese ceremony outfits and walked onto the streets, following the large crowd gathering. Through the streets, a parade marched on with two people waking inside of a barong or tiger costume. By no means was it a small costume! One person was the head, decorated ornately, giving off that religious feel, whatever that may be. The other people was of course holding up the tail. There were ...
Ubud, Indonesia snclark8... my shoes in hand. I am pretty cranky at this point! My awesome Bali trip ruined by worry. I don't know if these women will send police after me or what. I make it to chi-chi's, my buddy and I exchange travel horror stories. I realize that everyone has dealt with this stuff and its not such big of deal. I did learn never to let my purse leave my body! We hang out around the town square a little more and then I head to bed. I wake ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia nprivette... had one room so J & A took it, it was their tip after all. Kat and I check in next door at a nice place with a sweet fan and screened windows. It's much cooler in Ubud (but still hot) so we thought saving some money on a room without AC would be prudent. The damn chickens from Gili must have followed me. The moment we accepted the room they started crowing in the neighboring yard. Ugh. We poked around and got our bearings in our new town. Ubud is very quiet and ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia travel_buddy... some here in for that reason alone, Bali is still in need of visitors, even though I do love having so much to mself, but the people who live here so desperately need our business to survive. I believe that Bali has been discovered for some time, especially Ubud. This place still is quaint in most parts, but still is overgrown with shops, tours and restaurants, and guest houses. If you go not too far out of the main part of Ubud, you can stay ...
Ubud, Indonesia elizacass... about what things could be, in favour of just stating what they are. So...our guide proceeded to point out the obvious - here was a hunter; here was a woman peeking out from behind a door; this was Ganesha...but there was no attempt to try and explain why they were there, who might have carved them, or what they might mean. The site's caretaker was a tiny elderly woman who was busy making the morning's offerings and she scurried about with a great deal of intent. After a ...
