On Katherine's to do list from her 1976 trip to Europe after university was the hike down the Samaria Gorge. At 16 km, it is the longest gorge in Europe. Day 1 was a driving and site seeing day. We arrived in Chania in mid afternoon which gave us enough time to get our bearings and spend most of the daylight hours around the lighthouse.
