... boy who lived in one of the bungalows played with Nico and suddenly grabbed him in the face. And with his fingernails he scratched him several times. Surprised and in pain, Nico began to cry while the other mother tore away her child from him. The next morning Nico looked like a boxer who had lost an important fight. Around his eye there was a ring of small bloody and crusty wounds... . The following days we tried not to let Nico come close to the boy anymore.

... head scarves women should wear. A lot of the Malaysians wear different coloured ones, I wonder how many they take away with them on holiday?!

Food - We eat at a restaurant that serves north Indian and middle Eastern food, we eat Indian and it's really tasty. As usual we order far too much, but it's very fresh tasting. They also serve mint, lime coolers which I love.

... alert) 30 ringgit. We were dropped in Pantai Cenang (the nearest beach) and in my head I made a tally of all things that were obviously western and all of quirks that made it Asian. The result was balanced. KFC, tea rooms and English road signs stared at me in one direction whilst in other, rice paddies surrounded us hosting little warungs serving up moreish delights. ... hard to make friends and fit in so by New Years Eve she was looking thoroughly fed up and lonely sat facing the wall starring into space. I had been invited along to have a few drinks in the resort with the other workers to celebrate New Year but by 11:45pm as I looked round the room and realised that non of these people were either close friends or family it seemed that I would only be staying to satisfy my own need for company on the New Years night. ... airport by the head vet- Dr Tim- who took us out for our first meal. Usually the meals are all supplied by the resort in which the clinic is based but our flight didn't land until after dinner so Tim took us out to one of the local restaurants.
