      ... hours. I could have done it in 9 if it weren't for the stupid polar vortex and its accompanying blizzard. Shortly after I crossed into Wisconsin it started to snow, but just a little. It started to pick up, and I knew I was driving into a blizzard that dropped two feet of snow last night, so I got off the highway to fill up my tank and see exactly where the storm was heading.       Highway 38 or 'The Edge of the Wilderness Scenic Byway' is 47 miles long and ends in Effie. I had the hood down, sunglasses on and took it all in crusing along at 40-45 mph. There was hardly any traffic to distract from this wilderness where birch trees were dominant.
