Travel Blogs from Bemidji
We arrived before dark at the KOA campground just west of Bemidji, after crossing the very beginnings of the mighty Mississippi River that is a small creek here. The next day we met our next-site neighbours Bill and Karen Head from Winnipeg. After checking out, we drove into town where we saw the giant statues of Paul Bunyan (wearing a Shriner's fez) and Babe the Blue Ox, a little yellow submarine, and some fanciful statues made from scrap metal parts.
Well, we did go to beautiful Mackinac Island on the UP (Upper Pennisula as they say) in Michigan. The Upper Pennisula of Michigan is surrounded by Lake Huron, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Mackinac Island is accessible by ferry only and sits out in Lake Huron. They do not allow any motorized vehicles except for a few emergency vehicles. ... another movie (Pacific Rim...all about monsters and robots, I guess). Tom is reading "Gone Girl" and also "Ender's Game." And I'm reading "Devil in the White City." Chloe has been having a blast swimming with her cousins today, and is now going over to their cabin for a little "party."
Since we'll be leaving in the morning, I think it's time for me to wrap up this year's Lake Log with my handy-dandy summary:

... bring in 3 more perch. We also caught 2 bluegill, and even though they weren't keepers, it was fun to FINALLY catch something besides perch and rock bass. We had a rough, somewhat wet ride home, but still had a great time laughing and screaming with each wave we crashed into.

2:00- Tom- clean fish...count 11 for today.
Linda- sit by the lake and visit with cousin Deb.
3:00- Watch kids skiing and tubing, reapply sunblock, visit some more.
4:00- Get cleaned up and head to ForestEdge Winery.
