    For Halloween, the four of us planned a road trip to the north side of the island to walk through a corn maze, pick some pumpkins, and finish with a nighttime haunted hayride. Pam and Bill rarely go to this part of the island, so it was a perfect choice. It was a beautiful day, with very few clouds, and the two hour ride across the saddle road was smooth and easy.     ... be using Highway 200 or Saddle Road - from the description in the book, this road sounds very dangerous to be on. Before heading for the big mountain, I make sure the car is filled up with gas and my stomach filled up with grub... and I can do that all in the nearby town of Waimea - Hawai'i 's own cowboy country... Yes, cowboys right here on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Imagine that!

    ... some snorkeling. So, we changed clothes in the restrooms of the visitor center and we drove down to the Mauna Kea Beach.
    It was a nice beach, and we swam a little. Erwin tried a little bit of snorkeling, but the waves were to rough.

    We stayed on the beach until we were dry and we drove back to the resort. We took it easy, took a shower and read a little. During the whole vacation we haven't really done any reading, so it was nice and relaxing. ...
