We decided to celebrate Paige's birthday the night before, after the scuba diving/ snorkelling. There was a huge bar crawl going through the strip so we went for a late dinner and the plan was to join in later. We didn't realise that most of Koh Taos restaurants closed at 10pm but this one little place let us in, cafe de lotus it was called. The people were so friendly and the food was amazing! We wanted a nice quiet one but was ...

... Tao with one thing in mind, scuba diving. In the mid morning, I began my Advanced Open Water Certification allowing me to dive to depths of over 90 feet. The difference between depths of 60 feet and 90 feet in diving is enormous for being able to see things. My first dive of the day was a buoyancy control dive where we practiced how to stay level in the water to prevent sinking or rising. My second dive of the day was a navigation dive where we practiced how ...

We rattled down a steep flight of steps and awkwardly loaded our bikes for the five minute ferry ride across the river. In a Herculean effort we hauled our steeds up thirty steep wooden steps to Baan Are Gong restaurant. Lee's been a teacher at the school for twelve years, has a Thai wife and speaks ...

... Divers to help me with my proposal, they had great reviews and from the start they were well up for it. After bombarding a very helpful Ivan with emails I found a chest in Texas which was shipped to the school and has been in their kit room for the last three months. At the start of the diving week i told lie upon lie to get away from Emma so i could arrange the details with the dive school. I told so many i was sure she knew. There's only so many ...

    ... to the bikes.
    The day was
unbelievably humid and with the flat ground (thank god) we found it was coolest when we were on the bikes as there was a chance of breeze. Despite the haphazard traffic, riding bikes around an ancient Thai city is an amazing experience and the perfect way to get around. We rode down a fairly deserted road by a river, seeing the locals and a few birds fishing. At one point me and Nicole headed for a photo op at a wooden hut ...
