Sairee Beach, Surat Thani Ko Tao, Thailand, 84280
... we were throwing up, but that may be because we were concentrating on staying on board while not yelling at all the Europeans around us for chain-smoking the entire way there and blowing their Euro-smoke in our faces. But we made it!
We spent a couple days driving around the island on a moped. There wasn't as much to see because the monsoon and typhoons have washed out all of the beaches on the east side of the island. The evil little guy who rented us the ...
Koh Tao, Phetchaburi, Thailand joshandtara... we docked, got a taxi with 4 Oz girls (Grace, Jess, Kimmy and Charlotte) and Lenny (from London), arriving at our accomodation (Moonflower). The owners here were an odd couple, an old dutch woman and her middle aged, scarely similar looking son, but they were harmless enough. After dumping our stuff in our matchbox of a room, just a bed and about 3ft of space to the side of it (the smallest room I have ever seen), we sat on the beautiful and quiet beach of ...
Koh Tao, Thailand leehorscraft... In almost a complete role reversal Sairee now has the best places to eat, and Mae Haad is basically to be avoided and passed through once you get off the boat.

For people needing their western fix, I recommend Farango and Portobello (same ownership) for pizzas and lots of other delicious Mediterranean food. These and other restaurants worth checking out are on or close to the same road that connects Mae Haad with Sairee. It's the most important and busiest road on the island ...
Koh Tao, Thailand tropichound... over and laughed as we barely crested the hill. We were at a crossroads and so we asked them which way to the pagoda and they both pointed to the left. Then I asked Gabe what a pagoda was and he said he didn’t know…we’re ridiculous, so intent to get to some mysterious something, the only thing we’re both fairly certain of is that it’s religious, haha, we figured we’d find out when we got there. Parking ...
Koh Tao, Thailand claraz8... helped to ease our sickness :)

The sun would occasionally break through the clouds to give us a glimpse of what might be. As the catamaran snaked through the sea, we would disrupt schools of flying fish that glided effortlessly across the open water. It is a special sight and something we haven't really seen since Halong Bay in Vietnam all those months ago.

At around 2:30pm we finally glimpsed Koh Tao in all its glory. A quick pit stop ...
Ko Tao, Thailand emmaandpaul... beautiful beach at Ban Tai, feeling quite rough after the party, chat to some new people round the pool, a couple of which had been some of those that had fallen asleep on the beach and woke up and walked up in the morning. Have dinner with a couple of Irish guys from County Omagh and then have a early night, such a one hit wonder! Most amusing pics, hope to be able to upload when I get to Sydney as connection just not happening here.

Ko Tao and Ko Pha-Ngan, Thailand doone... like poo. However, some here excelled themselves by actually moving, showing their moving bits and looking marginally more interesting. For the first time, Jen successfully spotted nudibranches without someone else pointing at them! These 'sea slugs' come in a huge range of colours and patterns although most we saw were the same variety.

Other less welcome visitors to the coral were the crown of thorns starfish. These are voracious eaters of ...
Koh Tao, Thailand jenandtony... traveling and working in South East Asia for 13 years!!

Then our time was up. We aren't really sure how many days we spent on the island, which we think is a good measure of a successful island paradise trip. The beaches of Ko Tao are beautiful but the island itself is still a bit more developed than we would like (can't escape the 7-eleven)...

Back to the mainland.
Ko Tao, Thailand arikandcharis... go wrong. You had to be there and help them. Then we had to learn how to carry an unconscious diver up the ladder back onto the boat. They paired me up with this guy who was 20 kilos heavier than me. The first time I managed to get him up the ladder...the second time my hand slipped on the hand rails and we both fell backwards into the water.

The next day we were all back at it again and did our final scenario rescue. We had to do the whole thing from the ...
Ban Ko Tao, Chumphon, Thailand athena... tao and never even heard the distant rumble of a tank engine so rest easy faithful reader. well i have about 17 days until alaska which kinda sucks. i mean i need to go because the money is past low and bordering on non existent but on the other side, i really hate working my 16 hour days and i'm going to miss IM because we have really kinda grown on each other. its funny, sometimes i superimpose my current relationship with my time with ninny and compare the two ...
