Alice in Ritualistic Purge
Arrived in Chumporn on a bus which smelt of poo and then we got a catamaran to Koh Tao, which all seemed very jolly until it set off and the staff immediately started handing out sick bags. The boat rocked like Led Zeppelin and 90% of the passengers chucked up over the side and into their sick bags. I thought it was all quite funny, but Zoe wasn't …

Wearing sunglasses 18 metres under the sea
So this morning i had set my alarm for 5.45, i got up, packed my things for the morning and headed to the dive school for 6am. There we packed our gear again, loaded it onto the back of a pickup and got in the taxi to the pier where we unloaded the gear onto the boat and boarded.
Luckily for us the weather and wind had died down a little …
Snorkeling, pedicures and massaman curry
Loving life in Koh Tao. This place is really relaxed and friendly and still relatively quiet as the big summer season hasn't quite kicked in yet. We're staying at a place called the Coral Grand Resort, really nice place and we get really cheap accomodation as Rich is doing his open water diving course with them. Yesterday we spent the afternoon …
I Now Pronounce You PADI Open Water Divers...
Descend. Stop. Equalise. Little bit more. Equalise. Wait a minute I'm breathing underwater!
What and experience. After much deliberation we decided to start our 4 day open water PADI course. With the first day being an orientation day we excitedly went about doing our homework as if it was the first day of school again. I think meeting Kev …

We stayed in an 8 person mixed dorm and it was super clean and right new to the showers/bathrooms. The location was just a couple meters away from bars, restaurants and stores.

We did the open water certification over 4 days and had a great time learning the Kev (Irish). His persona really makes you feel at ease as it's pretty daunting going under sea for the first time. The skills and the academic aspect were all explained fully and the 3 people in our class all passed with flying colours. Absolutely loved scuba diving and look forward to our next dives!
