As we got up this morning the ship was arriving in Laem Chabang which is the nearest port to Bangkok in Thailand. The nearest city to Laem Chabang is Pattaya and Bangkok itself is about a 2 hour drive away by coach.

Yesterday we had heard that guests had been advised not to visit Bangkok unless part of an organised tour because the foreign office had advised there was an imminent risk of extremist activity. We were later advised by our guide ...

... big and smaller shops for which it would take 2 days to see them all well. It was funny to see that even here the articles were exactly the same and at the exact same spot. First thing we did was off course go to the restaurant and check out the Swedish meatballs :-) Mr. Xu loved them and said they tasted like the meatballs that his mother used to make, so cute. Con Dao, Vietnam started it all with beautiful scenery and loads of history and culture, but sand fleas that could be like piranha. ... top of the bathroom wall looking down at me and then would quickly sneek back and hide in the wall. I know that she didn’t come down into the bathroom as a huge spider used to sit on our toilet taunting her (and me). We called her Jenny the lizard and quite enjoyed living in a reptile house, the mosquito count was definitely down when the lizards were out and about.
