Today we woke up in Passau - this is a small town at the confluence of 3 rivers - the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz and is very picturesque. The old city was destroyed by fires in the 16th and 17th centuries and rebuilt in the architecture craze at the time -Italian Baroque. This cathedral burnt down almost completely in the 1652 town fire and was rebuilt in the baroque style after the fire.
