Today we are docked at Remagen and meet our tour guides to see the Bridge at Remagen Museum, which is a memorial to peace. As you walk toward the museum, first you see across the Rhine River what is left of the bridge on the other side of the river. It started on the streets, a group of maybe 30 of their close friends and neighbours plus the kids - SO cute, all dressed up as witches and skeletons and princesses. Erika and I went out later to find dinner and ended up having to create a picnic from the grocery store (every single restaurant was closed by 8). We were sitting on a bench in ...

Tomorrow, we're renting the car and driving to Amsterdam! I'm nervous about driving somewhere where I can't read the signs! Luckily, Europeans drive on the same side of the road as Americans, so that part will be okay. I have to remember how to drive a stick! I love you love you love ...

... out on schnitzel after Berlin and Dresden we set out for a change of pace somewhere in Leipzig. We quickly ran into a bit of a language problem…mainly that if we wanted to decide what we should have at a restaurant it would be helpful to know what was on the menu! Since our German culinary vocabulary was pretty limited we settled on an Italian restaurant where at least words like “spaghetti” and “ravioli” ...
