A Lovestruck Romeo, seen the streets

... to get back that way! So today was a 350 mile drive and tomorrow is closer to 400 miles which leaves little time for much else.

Anyhoo – not to be discourage I struck out on the Grampian road and looked out for the brown signs. First stop was the silverband falls – a short walk to a very pleasant waterfall that unusually in my experience has no plunge pool – just a pile of wet rocks under which the ...

Can't believe how early we had to get up this morning - 3:30am NZ time (which is 1:30am Aus time) to get to the airport.
But it was all good. Watched the Twilight movie on the plane on the way home and now i cant wait to see New Moon!

Coming through customs in Australia was funny as i had to go in the high security line due to my Maouri souviner that i brough back with me that is classified as a weapon. I was just glad that Border Security wasnt there to film me haha.

Crazy partying, road trip and promotion!

... mission one night, looking to see some, no success again.. We stayed at a caravan park, we were 12 people and worked hard (at least most of the time, some of us..), longer hours than in metro area, more sales – I did 18 services which was the second best result of the week, made $1300! – and obviously had heaps of fun! It was a great team, we all got along really well and grew together to a little family.

... they dug to get better access to the gold. Only one man was lost in the work, and it cost more than the bridge (which in itself was an expensive undertaking). It must have been worth it though, because they repeated the process again a few years later and the information board erected nearby reported billions worth of gold found based on today's money.

We met up with the others at the Bridge Road brewery again, after pausing ...

... sleeping mat, snacks, bits and pieces all had to fit into my panniers along with the usual stuff I needed to take to work like office clothes and lunch. I felt very laden as I loaded myself on the train after work and scootled off to the Northern side of the city!

Once we were in the car though I began to relax - after all, Dan was driving so all I had to do was sit back and relax! Dinner unfortunately was a very miserly plain chips from Red Rooster (without the ...

Beechworth, Victoria

We have driven further into the state of Victoria and away from the coast into the bush and mountains. During the drive, we passed several areas that had been affected by the recent bush fires, the trees were all black but begining to regenerate.

We first passed through Glenrowan which was where the famous Ned Kellys shootout ...

... diesel, because these can easily be converted to run on vegetable oil and thus be all nice and environmentally friendly.)
The meeting had a very strange ending, though, as one of the ladies had asked for my email address to continue the vegetable oil discussion, then suddenly changed her mind and didn't seem to want to know me after I mentioned that I disapproved of the brand of coffee they bought because it came from coffee growers who were oppressed with poor work conditions ...

The other side of the story

... beverage and reading a book.

I am now sitting outside a church again, in Wangaratta, (blogging while I wait for the service to start) wondering why I am here. I went to another church last week, and met another lot of over 70s... however this lot was as insincere as the Melbourne Baptists, and about as hospitable. I have been reading a book called Jesus for President, which has utterly spun the way I look at so called Christians, and I know full well that I will not find them ...

road trip day fifteen - noisy frogs !!

... they are about the size of a pigeon!! Soo cute) So after sunset we sat and watched these little things waddle on the beach and cautiously run up to their burrows in the sand dunes behind us. It was just adorable. As we were walking back to the car you can see them all walking about finding their homes (and we even saw some penguin loving as it was breeding season) !! Was the best night in the van, it was nice and cold which is much better ...

... couple, being thrashed at pool and ploughing money into their jukebox which had a number of classic songs - C&C Music Factory's Things That Make You Go Hmm to name but one. Then it was back to Granny's Farm for a campfire and more alcohol before stumbling to our beds in the early hours of the morning. Waking up the next morning, absolutely desperate for the loo I was surprised but not at all shocked to encounter a naked man doing a head stand right outside our ...
