A short ride to the other side of the island. I am travelling too fast as I passed by some magnificent scenery on the way here. Have decided trains are not the best way to see Japan as I feel I am passing by the best bits.
The country between Takamatsu and here is quite mountainous. The fist bit no, but once we headed inland it was all mountains and river valleys. I am sure it ...

... would use the correct term - typhoon, but we don't want to alarm the punters on board. Still, we ensure our little white caffeine pills are handy just in case.

With deck chairs lashed to the railings, and outside exits on decks 4, 11 & 12 locked for our safety, we queue up for tickets to the Ice Show then head to the towel folding at High Notes on deck ...

... I have been feeling slightly annoyed but seemed to be unable to think of an obvious reason. Then I slowly figured it out. I didn't get along with the whole henro thing. I more and more started to suspect that perhaps it wasn't for me.. See I like to travel without a set route. I like to go where I want when I want! There has been times when I have spent 6 hours on a train just to go see something that I felt was intriguing, and same day ...

    Iya Valley

Nach Kotohira fuhren wir ins Iya-Tal. Dort hat es viele Steilwände und Flüsse, welche sich auch zum River Rafting sehr eignen.
Anschliessend fuhren wir nach Kochi, wo wir übernachteten.

After Kotohira we drove to the Iya Valley. There are a lot of steep face and rivers where you also can go rafting.
In the afternoon we drove to Kochi, where we also stayed for the night.
