      ... good hiking. The villages along the way were tucked into the valleys and were all quite small. Not sure what they do there as it felt that it was quite remote even though you are only 50km from a very industrialised part of Japan. A car is the way to go so you can take your time and explore.       ... the pilgrimage I read about a few shops selling it.. not hundreds everywhere! It makes it feel more like pilgrim merchandise.
