... speaking it) - I was so excited! After spending about 5minutes practicing what I had to say to my farfar (Literal translation: Dads dad) I rang my grandparents and told them I would be at the station in about 50mins. I couldnt believe that I was nervous to speak Danish to my grandparents but I havent heard or spoken it in 2 years! When I saw them at the station when I arrived I knew that at least my Danish was comprehensible! We drove back to their house and I had a great ...
Helsingør, Denmark reneedm... as we were only in town for the one night and did'nt get to see much else, so once again we did'nt really get a great feel for the city. I did like it here though, so I'm going to have to come back for another look. Next day it was more of the same; wandering around the old city trying not to spend too much of the dwindling balance of my bank account. Eventually it was time to board the train and head off to Amsterdam. The train is the only way to head south (as far as ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark jimborussell... from the ferry. Had our farewell dinner at the hotel. Was very nice. Sad to say good-bye to another group. The canadians gave me a Canadian T-Shirt which was cool and very sweet! I brought them a round-was the least I could do seeing as they had done so much for me! (Thanks for the Bailey's guys!!!).
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark ka.duncan... Gay Lumberjacks... it was an altogether (vary) gay afternoon. Then the concert started, music, booze and fun had by all. Some boy kissing, dominatrix slapping and drag queen strutting their stuff. Since we were going to find any accommodation in town that night, we decided to call it a day after travelling around the sound. Next trip is in a couple of weeks were we plan to go hiking in the Swedish 'high lands' for a week. I'll see you know if we come across any gay wood chuckers. CP
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark cpiottoWhen we stepped off the bus in the rain in front of the Danish Museum of Art and Design in Copenhagen, we didn't know the work of Hans Wegner, Poul Henningsen, Thorvald Bindesboll, and Arne Jacobsen was waiting inside. But our excellent guide took us room-by-room explaining the techniques and impacts of these and other Danish designers as ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark johnston9494... in a seating area and waited. They had handed out numbers for the boarding process, and a half hour later or so they called 1's and 2's to get in line to check in. Then return to the seating area. We were a number 4. We didn't have to wait long, but I felt for the number 15's. Check in was smooth, then we sat back down again and waited. And waited. We met some fellow travelers, and then waited some more. And then some more ...
Copenhagen, Denmark ohiolair... slept through the entire thing. We were a tired, if satisfied, bunch. The next day, April 9, all families brought our group to the train station, where we caught the 9:53 am to the Arlanda Airport that serves Stockholm. We were there in 20 minutes -- Sophie, Ilsa and I were almost left on the train, it was so fast -- and we trundled through the airport to begin our long flight home. The first leg would be through Copenhagen, then the 10-hour flight to Seattle.
Copenhagen, Denmark scott.wilson.ptGetting ready to go to the airport. Having my previous globetrotting experiences in mind, I know I am forgetting something. Probably something important! Well, never mind. I have my tickets, passport and creditcard, so what ever it is I'll be able to pick it up in Miami. So I'm off to the airport! "....I'm leaving on a jet-plane, don't know when I'll be back again..." See you on the other side of the atlantic :o)
Copenhagen, Denmark tuehhansen... on by train to Gilleleje, a major fishing port. I had a swim in the late afternoon at one of the beaches, which was very refreshing, then lay down and sunbaked in the weak sun :) Although Copenhagen is generally very clean, well-ordered and neat, there is an area called the 'Freetown' of Christiania, which was started in the 1970's by a group of hippies and political activists. It is located in an old army area which is surrounded by greenery along a canal only a ...
Copenhagen, Denmark everardtmalmo<br>The first order of business as we start our road trip is to stop in Copenhagen at the Russian consulate to get our visas. Olga has arranged for our "invitation" through a company that also serves as our "host" in Russia. We arrive early and there is already a queue in front. As we wait a slow rain starts and luckily we have umbrellas. Those who don't either huddle under the few inches of building ...
