There a lot of people spending a lot of time here so the atmosphere isn't that of other places. The staff however were amazingly friendly!

Feel grubby in the communal areas.

0700 pick up. We went to the gate and found Frenchman Jaja from the Drop Bear tour (Fraser Island) waiting for the same trip. We stood chatting waiting for the bus and then Christiane walked by!

Shane the tour guide picked us up from the hostel on a 27 seated bus that was nearly full by the last pick up. He …

5.30 am the Greyhound pulled into Cairns. I had pretty fat ankles and stiff legs, but I was in great spirits compared to grumpo Milnes who reported waking through the night every 10 minutes. I always bagsie the window so David only has me to lean on and my shoulders aren't the most comfortable, even with a blow up pillow. < …

... t. Then it was my turn. I didn't think that I was going to get it on the first try or at all but I did! It was the most basic technique but I still got it and kept going! Some of the whips I had were really loud and it was fun to play with. After a while I let others have a turn. Then Matt traded with me and I was going at it again, joking with Carter that I needed one in my classroom in the future (not seriously though). After my two turns with the little whip I wanted a chance to ...

... where the water was really clear and there was loads of different fish and coral to see. Amazing colours and patterns on all the fish, and I did also see one poo which was, erm, odd! The second was in deep waters and the sea was very choppy so it was extremely hard work! Still plenty to see but not quite as clearly as the first one, a great experience though. The girls saw two sharks but unfortunately I didn't which was a ...
