There a lot of people spending a lot of time here so the atmosphere isn't that of other places. The staff however were amazingly friendly!

Feel grubby in the communal areas.

0700 pick up. We went to the gate and found Frenchman Jaja from the Drop Bear tour (Fraser Island) waiting for the same trip. We stood chatting waiting for the bus and then Christiane walked by!

Shane the tour guide picked us up from the hostel on a 27 seated bus that was nearly full by the last pick up. He …

5.30 am the Greyhound pulled into Cairns. I had pretty fat ankles and stiff legs, but I was in great spirits compared to grumpo Milnes who reported waking through the night every 10 minutes. I always bagsie the window so David only has me to lean on and my shoulders aren't the most comfortable, even with a blow up pillow. < …

... and onto some ice cream tasting. With Josh going for a standard triple chocolate scoop, Abbie went for the very left field ginger and passionfruit. Despite her insistence it was extremely tasty the jury is still out! As if Abbie had angered the gods with her debatable choice in pudding cuisines, our next stop was the Mossman Gorge and a swim in the coldest water either of us have ever experienced. After a quick 'Aborigoni experience' where we learnt the fundamentals ...

... with me for the third location. Which was great, but that meant he missed seeing a white tip reef shark. Personally I was quite fine not seeing a shark but Kirk was jealous of his fellow divers. After a full day at sea we once again had a gelato in town and then headed back to the hostel. Once back there we did laundry and packed for our 31 hour train ride to ...
