Sugarland & the Pandas

We arrived at San Diego Zoo at about 10am and were really looking forward to a morning of fun as we had heard that this was one of the best zoos in the world. We started off by doing a bus tour around the zoo which aimed to familiarize you with the layout and let you know about some of the animals and shows which they offered. This was really useful and helped us to decide which route to take around this really amazing place. We started off with the lazy koalas and were quite surprised to fin...

I am never leaving this place

After a less than stellar drive out of Vegas we were excited as all get out to make it to San Diego. I must say that this is one of the top three places I wanted to see on this trip...maybe with Glacier National and The birthplace of Buffalo Bill. We had driven through the desert for hours and hours because of all the traffic and it was 80mph or 0mph the whole way until we got past a California ...

Day 16- It's Pizza Hut Neil, But Not As We Know It

... dropped us back at the motel, which Neil earlier referred to as "home" (??). It certainly is beginning to feel that way. We will have been here 2 weeks tomorrow!

We decided to eat-out at Pizza Hut tonight. To quote Hugh Grant in "Notting Hill", that can only be described as a "surreal, but nice" experience. The pizza was the nice part, the "restaurant" side of it was surreal. We don't know if what we are about to tell you is something implemented by all Pizza ...

The Vanishing America Journey Begins...

From there I will travel into the countryside of New England, down into the Rust Belt and abandoned industries of the Northeast, then into America's Heartland in search of farms and smalltown life. In the following years, I will make my way west, seeking out the Wild Mustangs and iconic cowboys and ranchers ...

Day 2

Day 2 First night of camp was a laugh but did not sleep well in my little tent. today was a free day so we got to do what ever we wanted. so we explored San Diego a bit more. We all had our photos taken and got to see what we would look like when we are 70, god its not pretty lol. To be honest, feeling like a fish out of water. Everyone in the group has just been travelingfor past few months so they are already in their grove but I am trying to find my feet a bit. Ho hum

Downtown San Diego

We stayed in a motel about 15 miles outside of San Diego last night, because it was cheaper than the ones that we had seen right in the centre. Although thanks to the slightly scenic route that we took to get to it, I expect that we spent all those savings in petrol costs! San Diego is a really nice city and unlike the rest of America that we've seen so far, it doesn't seem obsessed with ripping down every single building that's over 10 years old ...
