... it justice - they just don’t convey the immenseness of it. I followed the path, nearly a mile long, beyond the natural bridge to Lace Falls and by the time we were back, Minnie and I were both feeling pretty tired. By good fortune, there was a shuttle bus waiting to take us back up the hill. After all, two really long walks in one day is a bit much.

After that it was find a McD’s with good wifi access in Roanoke - no luck ...

... Had a Capp/Hot Chocolate at the station and filled up with fuel for the ride. Free Entrance! Today evidently is National Park Day!! Bonus saved $15.00. Speed limit 35, light traffic. ... but they weren't open until 10:00am; glad I didn't, as this is really a walking city.

  • Outdoor concerts & street performers everywhere.
  • Took in a movie at an old, restored movie theatre to end the night. Saw "Skeleton Twins" - loved this movie - well done, powerful, emotional.
  • 47 miles.
  • Will wake up in the morning (Sunday), hit my favorite cafe, and figure out where to next!!! ...

    Woke up not-too-early with the intention of heading to Asheville by noon, but decided to divert my route and take the Blue Ridge Parkway through the mountains - a good choice! Made it to Asheville by dusk.
