Today was all about seeing Seattle. We drove to the Seattle Public Library. This is an 11 story glass structure by dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. It is considered in some lists one of the 10 buildings to see in the world. It did not disappoint. The children's section was amazing. I hope Mia and Caroline will see it one ...
Viel Spass.
Williams, Oregon, United States andre583This was an unexpected highlight brought to me by Tamami, who found it on the web. An entire hotel and resort entirely in the trees. Well, sort of. Most of the rooms are up in the trees, some as much as 40 feet, and some even have water and bathroom facilities. The whole place has been around for over 20 years and they have been adding on rooms and things to do ever ...
Cave Junction, Oregon, United States brandonibolognaFrom Coos Bay we continued on to Sami and Scott's farm on the Rogue River. We spent almost a month there last year, which was a blast and this year was, too.
We didn't do all the wine-tasting, at the various wineries in the area, but that's not to say that we didn't drink wine (although I'm not a great wine fan). However, we did do a lot of other things.
It seemed like several times a week, we had a few friends over for drinks and pupus (Hawaiian for ...
... expensive and pushed on. Probably not the smartest move - were quite stressed we would be empty in the middle of nowhere...but we found another one in the nick of time just outside of Forks. Forks was so small and full of Twilight signs and adverts - quite funny really. So from there it took us another 2hrs to get out of the park and then we pushed on through to ...
Medford, Oregon, United States sharynrWoke up at 10.30am and had to be checked out by 11am. *****! Showered and packed and headed downstairs, I made it on time but the problem was that I hadn't planned anything else from here on in. I wasn't sure where I should go, where I could book to stay or when to do it. Stayed for as long as I could and arranged to go to Seattle. Many of the people I had spoken to said the drive from ...
101 somewhere, Oregon, United States teasertool... 50 BZ. The locals eat there. Bring your bug spray and make sure it's strong. Hopkins Village is a very mellow laid back village that is not over run with tourists. We only spent a day there, but we had a killer breakfast at Innies. The best beans on the whole trip. The locals are very friendly. Wish I had more time there. San Ignacio is bustling town with great deals on accommodations. It didn't seem as cheerful of a place as the coastal areas. This was the ...
Rogue River, Oregon, United States themeierls... Raggamuffin' Tours. 3 days 2 nights with snorkeling, fishing and camping out on a couple cayes along the way. Sounds just terrible but I think we can tough it out. Once in Placencia we will be staying at Harry's Cozy Cabanas for 6 nights. After that we haven't planned anything really. We are planning on seeing some Mayan Ruins but not sure which ones. Car rentals are way to spendy so we probably will take the bus alot. My (Jill's) dad left today for Hopkins Village, so ...
Rogue River, Oregon, United States themeierls... back with her but my plans kinda changed a bit as my mom had wanted me to fly my cousins home (they were pretty little then too) so I got to ride my longest and last long haul Greyhound ride from Pensacola all the way to Richmond, Virginia where I would meet my 1st cousin whom was stationed at St Petersburg and was leaving a month after I flew her kids home along with her two crazy cats. While I was in Virgina I got to see quite a bit of Washington DC not the way I ...
Grants Pass, Oregon, United States mynetdudeOctober 9...Crescent City in the morning. We almost made it. We hit the road with the new rental car at 4 PM. Had to drive over 300 miles to get to the hostel in the Redwood National Forest by 10 PM. But it became clear that we wouldn't make it. Sally called and they were able to sell our room to somebody else, so we stopped in Eureka, found a little 50's cinder block hotel room, got some Mexican food, and crashed. The drive up was crazy. Oakland to ...
