          ... hike in Tahquamenon State Park to see the Upper Falls. The forest, a mix of hardwoods and conifers, is so dense in the watershed of the Tahquamenon River that the river runs brown from the tannic acid in the soil. Beech Bark disease has decimated great sections of the forest here, but there are still some stands of old growth White Pines in the park.
