      ... but when water is released at the wrong time it can flood nests destroying eggs! The park was created on 1947 to save the Glades but it's still fighting to survive because it has to compete with growing cities for ever precious water!! Another surprise were the many canoe routes including a 7 day 99 mile route near the west coast of Florida.

      ... was on his 3 month paternity leave! Pretty darn good! There was also a Chinese dude who had just finished studying in NYC and was doing some travelling before heading home for the New Year.       ... followed the water. Really, it was just Moreton bay, so I wasn't fussed. I headed back to the marina and waited for my tour. The boat arrived from another tour, and, after some time, loaded up my tour. There wasn't a lot of people on this tour, so I sat right at the bow. The boat pulled out of the marina and headed towards the adjacent man made channel. The guide explained that this channel was cut so the park rangers could patrol the sheltered waters ...

      ... of the Everglades. There were tourist spots every mile or so offering Alligator shows and fan boat rides. I guess it was too late in the afternoon for these as they were empty. Deserted. Maybe it was too early in the season for these attractions to even be manned. There was a lot of water out here.
