Hello All. We have really enjoyed our stay in Brownsville, TX to visit Jerry's parents. We don't see them often and it is always bittersweet when the visit nears an end.

We went out for a casual dinner with the parents and Jerry's brother, Juan, and wife Vivian. Then it was back to the hotel to begin packing up our belongings.

Everyone that we passed just loved them.

The girls were completely exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel.
South Padre Island, Texas, United States hollyesparzaOur first full day in Brownsville, TX...I am working this week, so most of my day is spent at the hotel. Jerry visits with his parents in the morning, then picks up the kids to do something fun in the afternoon.

Today was a quiet day. We went to see Jerry's parents, then drove out to ...
Brownsville, Texas, United States hollyesparzaIt was a quick trip to Brownsville, TX from Saint Hedwig. The shortest leg of our journey so far. We stopped at Tacqueria Jaliscos for a lunch break. This is our traditional stop whenever we make the trek between San Antonio and Brownsville. The food is always better than I remember from the previous visit.

As soon as we arrived in Brownsville, we headed straight to Jerry's parents house to say hello before checking into the Residence Inn for our week-long stay.
Brownsville, Texas, United States hollyesparzaThe day has finally arrived. Mille and I are not sure how to feel knowing what we are getting ourselves into in the natural, but the conclusion I've come to is this:
I'd rather be in the will of God.
I'm not sure if this is even really happening, and we don't even have "specific" direction! Just GO. The plane to Brownsville was a tiny ...
Brownsville, Texas, United States robandmillie... it out. Again, the breading was too thick, and to make matters worse it was not cooked thoroughly, so that I bit into a lukewarm, mushy, stale tasting thing that no amount of red sauce could cure. The fish was cooked properly and the breading was surprisingly light compared to everything else we had sampled. It was also stone cold. Our bill, with 2 drinks each was a very reasonable $62. If my dinner had been edible, we ...
South Padre Island, Texas, United States mjphotoI finally hit 10,000 miles on my bike and I think I have about 6,000 more to go. I was headed to the border and saw a dark cloud but didn't think I would actually get wet. Boy was I wrong! It started to pour but at least it was warm. I almost made it 6 months without getting rained on and it was the last day in Mexico. I ended camping at a place for $15 bucks but there was no body ...
South Padre Island, Texas, United States macrosse1... off their leashes and have a grand ole time watching them tear around chasing birds and splashing thru the water. You could walk out into the water a hundred yards and it would still only be up to your ankles. After three days of driving out through the sand I started to feel a little cocky about the abilities of our four wheel drive. The last trip back and about fifty feet before reaching the road, I didn't have quite enough momentum and I ...

South Padre Island, Texas, United States lavidanueva... 19 net, so things like this carry weight when you’re on a budget. Greyhound’s not especially costly, but long and slow. This is the age of hitch-hiking, too, back when you’d 'go hitch-hiking’ just for fun, but a cheap flight once in a while is a luxury.
