Great location, lovely helpful owners, comfortable rooms

I was happy with my choice for the Knights Inn, Marina District, San Francisco - it is an excellent location very near the Presidio and a short bus ride, or 35 min walk, to the Marina wharves and good food abounds. The room was clean and tidy and had a good sized bar fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities and the owners are very helpful. My only gripe was that there could have been a security chain or such on the door for extra security over and above the door lock while asleep, and the windows could do with either security screens or a window lock allowing the windows to be opened 6" safely for fresh air.

The next day I wandered down to the wharf area and stumbled upon a lovely wine bar and ..... well .... when in Rome .....! So I treated myself to a tasting of 4 California whites and came away more impressed with Aussie whites than I already was beforehand. Only one of the 4 excited me in any real way and that was as much because it was a grape …

As I said in my previous entry - I arrived in San Francisco 20 mins before I left Sydney. However the price for that 20 extra minutes of youth is (now) 6 days of erratic sleep patterns - I'm all over the place. I go to sleep at around 22:30 and wake up around 02:30. Sit up and do FB updates until about 04:00, fall asleep again and wake up around …

... up in Lompoc - a wine and flower growing centre where water is obviously sorely needed for the crops. Sunday 23 November After a night at Embassy Suites (yes, ensuite bedroom and another room with table, chairs and sofas and kitchen area, and a good made to ordered breakfast all for £33 each) we drove onward towards Los Angeles where we delivered the hire car back in plenty of time and had 6 hrs in the airport before our Air New Zealand flight to Auckland. We arrive in 2 days ...

We used the bus network to return to Union Square and felt over qualified once we knew which buses to take. We had to ask people on two different buses to move along and for people to take bags off seats...our TFL exposure prepared us well for international pubic transport travel and etiquette!

... I have virtually no opinion of this.

On the way back we nipped into a Mall to go to the toilet. It was a classy Mall so I thought I’d be safe however as I walked out there was a Chinese man stood at the urinal with his pants and underpants entirely down *******. San Francisco is ******* ****.

The play was good. It was a tiny theatre holding about 30 people and there were about 9 in the crowd. In fairness the cast deserved a better turnout as despite ...
