... We encountered the weigh-in of a local bass fishing tournament on our first walk-about - 3.6 lbs large mouth bass was the winner (typical for the area is under 3 lbs so that was a good catch). Fishing was poor they guys said because of the cold snap and rains that muddied up the waters.

... There was no drive-thru, though, so we had to skip the coffee and beignets this time. I did see some art on the fence opposite the cathedral I might have needed, but once again I was foiled by the absent drive-thru feature. Criss-crossed Bourbon and Rampart Streets several times and got a good look at the French Quarter that way.

Oh great. Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal just declared a state of emergency for this weekend for the hurricane headed to the coast. We better beat it outta here tomorrow, long pedal flat.

Nice drive in the back roads. We saw miles, and miles of sugar cane, and got to one spot where they were harvesting this stuff. Wow, big machines, lots of them, heavy-loaded trucks.
