    ... pool for an hour or so. We met some Americans who were just riding in a group around the State who were from Illinois. They told us about a couple of sights to see so tomorrow we are off to the giant Sequoia forest before we head to San Francisco.

    ... enough, I spotted a statue of him on the grounds. We visited the chapel, walked through the lovely garden and into the beautiful church. It is obviously still used as a place of worship. On the grounds there are statues, including the one I mentioned and a native American lifting his hands toward the sky.     ... sequoias...just, wow Again, photos cannot do these amazing trees justice. There is no way to fit them into a shot...even standing beside one it's still hard to explain the grandeur with only a photo. We spend about 90 min walking around (unfortunately, I failed to change my footwear to shoes from sandals, and the path was rather dusty - my feet were just ugh) and marveling at the size and age of the trees.

    ... road in the dark. There are very few towns in this area. We stopped for dinner at a little BBQ place called Bodie Mike's, delicious food. No vacancy signs were illuminating the few lodging spots in that town so we loaded up and drove on.     Since we had a budget of only $222, we decided to go to Clovis to be on the safe side. We plan to spend a fraction of the money every day. The money is split into half and spent however each person wants. We will need to conserve money as we're staying at a friend's home to save money for lodging expenses and a few free meals.
