    ... s house. Magnus rented the hut to us. He was tall with a fiery red beard and hair. He spoke limited English, which made him seem taciturn, but he smiled a lot, and I think it was just the language barrier. I printed out our boarding passes, as good old Ryanair charges £45 per person if you don't do it in advance. Ouch!

    In the evening we played Carcassonne and watched the beam of the lighthouse swing across the sky, which was as close as we got to the Northern Lights, sadly.

    ... filling the car with groceries for Nick to drive across, but there were still perishables to buy at Norwegian prices. Ouch! Things we didn't buy included a box of 10 Capri Sun juice cartons, which can normally be purchased in the UK for around £2. In the supermarket in Stavern, then were 940 NOK (around £9). No wonder Norwegians are all thin.

    ... about 1am....
    Friday morning, the ladies had organised a nice lunch in town at Skien, so Per met me at the brygge (private wharf) and we went over to Sandoye for the day, did a few jobs, and we picked-up Ragnhild and Marianne later in the day.
    Per is pretty handy on the BBQ (I've taught him everything I know ;) ) and cooked some beautiful salmon on the BBQ for dinner.

    ... stumbled upon one of the oldest churches in Sweden, which they open to the public for 3 weeks every summer. During these public opening hours, different members of the congregation are rostered on to show people through. As we were the only people at that time, we had a lovely hour long chat to the gentleman and his lovely wife learning all about their families and life in Sweden, as they quenched our thirst & fed us biscuits and pastries!
