    ... way to Lake Shirokoma by 8.30am. It was a fairly long drive but well worth it. We parked the car a little way past the main car park area as Shigeki did not want to pay the parking fee, which was quite expensive. It was only a short walk to the lake. The autumn leaves were out and absolutely beautiful. We spent quite a few hours wandering around the lake. The walkway was gravel, small rocks or wooden planks.

    It took about 2 hours to go over the mountain and we arrived at about 5.30pm at the ryokan (Japanese inn). By the we made up the futons and got ourselves ready, it was time for dinner. Shigeki's favourite restaurant in the area was a beer hall restaurant serving fusion food. The only reason was not for the food but for the beer.

    Hi, We had a very exciting journey on the bullet train to Kyoto. It was amazingly smooth and comfortable, as you couldn't feel the high speeds at all. We stayed a night in capsules, which was a good experience, but we were glad we'd only booked one night!
