Quick return to cebu for flight ot Palawan (Puerto Princessa) so we based ourselves at a good guest house called the Kiwi lodge..very nice...great munchies as well ... so back to the problem of Lous ruck sack and the jammed lock...luckily one of the geezers who hang around the gate of the kiwi lodge had some small plier type things...i thought ho chance son you is gonna need bolt croppers for that lock...but either that padlock was made of butter or that was some dodgy super power pliers...an...
Cebu, Philippines stevelou... the staff there were great, but they said that they had a different hotel for us to stay in, so they loaded our bags into a van and drove us to the new place. It was a lot newer and did not have the soul or personality of the last place, but in times of need, we took it, plus the fact was that it was free. Always a good Jew boy price !!!
And Finally
And with that done, our time was over, tomorrow we have a flight to Hong Kong, where hopefully the fun will not runout
Took the SuperCat from Tagbilaran to Cebu City across the Cebu Straight. Easy crossing, about 90 minutes. Taxi from the harbor to Cebu City.
The Diplomat Hotel is OK, nothing fancy but the price is right. Centrally located, walk to shops. PHP50 cab ride to Ayala -- must see! I am no fan of malls but this one is done right. Lots of open spaces, outdoor restaurants and some great shops.

Cebu, Cebu City, Philippines ricajane... is to hire a taxi for an afternoon to take you to the row of guitar factories in Abuno, Mactan Island, and wait for you there so you have a ride back.
Alegre Guitar Factory has the most impressive looking guitar factory in Abuno. The standard guitars and other stringed instruments are neatly arranged in a showroom. The top-quality guitars are in a separate showroom. The personnel can also take you to the back of the lot ...
Cebu City was ok but a big city with not much to do unless you want to head off to beaches. I had a wander around the old part of town and the Fort San Pedro; an old fortslowely crumbling. I was not interested in checking out the beaches as I knew I had a few beaches that I wanted to stop at as I worked my way back up to Manila. Time to move on.
Well I can honestly say we only saw the malls in this city, as most of this country seems to be built for life around malls where its air con and has all your needs under one roof people tend to live in them. So when in Rome do as the locals and our last days in the Philippines were spent in the Ayala and SM malls eating, window shopping and the games area. We bought local games card which you fill with money and play on the machines which we did ...
Cebu City, Visayas, Philippines jon-daniellaOver the jet lag (+16 hours from home) - Xanax and melatonin - the miracle combination. Switched hotels to one that offered unlimited broadband for a bit less so I can upload pictures a bit more often. Lessons from Philipines - they "abbrv all st name" and do not bother to specify similar names - e.g., F. Ramos St and F. Ramirez are both F Ram. St - welcome to Phi! Figured I'd bounce over to the dive shops ...
Cebu City, Philippines taraiym... that was planted almost 500 years ago, never fails to attract the crowds. Every time I go there, the place is often packed with curious tourists, beggars and itinerant peddlers selling a variety of items — guitars, rosary beads, sweets, to name some.
On one occasion, I found myself accosted by women devotees on my way to the covered pavilion, selling candles and offering to say a prayer for me, for a fee, of course. I politely ...
