    After a quick final yoghurt fruit and honey for breakky, we headed to Parikia to board a fast ferry to Rafina (mainland Greece).

    ... scurrying into the safety of shop doorways. The laneways wind and zig zag and are seldom straight. We are told the theory behind this was to confuse and deter the Pirates. There are shops selling everything - clothes and jewellery being the predominant items, but plenty of cafes. All the buildings are white and i can't help wondering what the colour charts look like in the local paint and hardware stores. Window trims seem to be the only choice available ...

    ... roads (haha) of Mykonos. Similar to Venice, they were just wide enough for 2 people to pass. Very windy, illogical pathways were designed to help keep the town safe from pirates. Many of the buildings are from the 17th century! Someone asked if there was a rule that all the buildings had to be white. Our guide said there was no rule but white was cool and looked beautiful, so why would you not paint it white?! The shutters and balconies ...

    ... it's so nice to have a hot breakfast instead of just my travel rations. Plan today is to wander the island shops with the other kiwi girls, and probably enjoying the beach in the afternoon. It's warm and relaxing watching the waves while eating my eggs, a good start to the day. Wandering town is nice, sunny, relaxed.
