There is obviously a market for less than attractive looking B&B/hotel accommodation as the amount of 'No Vacancies' signs suggest that people will stop just about anywhere. The seafront at Blackpool is littered with these places along with tatty looking bars, chip shops and rock shops. I guess this is the traditional British seaside experience - something that we should not lose completely - but it could look a whole lot better. ...

... damage. Luckily there is a large duck pond in the centre of the site where much of the tent ended up (startling the ducks and moorhens who had been sleeping peacefully) but at least that stopped the debris from blowing further.

On our final night we went to a local pub for a group meal and afterwards had a conker competition which I am delighted to say I won, so I am now treasuring my conker and the chocolate medal that was my prize.

I now leave Clitheroe and move on a few miles to a tiny, but beautiful village at the edge of the Forest of Bowland (not a forest any more but some rather spectacular moors). Here I will join up with my Rotary friends and spend the next three weeks travelling up to Scotland with them. Whether I will have access to the internet over these weeks remains to be seen,
