The aim today was to drive to the Green Mountains in Vermont - the **** sat nav we've hired likes to take us on long routes so today's drive was 6 hours long! This included driving the length of Manhattan in rush hour in heavy rain and getting lost in a car park. Luckily ...

We departed the Lowell area across Hwy 2 towards Western Massachusetts, entering the Mohawk Trail across the Berkshires. We were welcomed with beautiful color, muted by the rains, yet nothing like we have seen before. I shot some iPhone photos which are below. ... in a small town called Dummerston. Oh my gosh, who chose that name? What’s in a name? Well, can you imagine a person taking pride in graduating from the Dummerston High School. I think it would be embarrassing. People really need to think carefully when they name towns or their children! Even if it is to recognize a prominent citizen.

However, the campsite was nice and we enjoyed the stay and a short ...

... boulevards and giving us yet more photo opportunities. Our Howard Johnson motel is a couple of miles outside Williamstown and ideal for our purposes. Supper at the "Chopsticks", the local Chinese, Japanese and Korean eatery, very nice and reasonable. It is a source of amazement that sweet and sour pork and Chinese chicken curry seem to be the same the world over, though probably not in the Orient! Though Steph did say her curry was much ...
