Well we finally swam in the Mediterranean. The water is very clear, temperature was perfect, calm sea...no waves, but I needed my sandals to cope with the very pebbly shore! Did I know there wouldn't be much sand? We are spoilt! Yesterday we walked to the Chimaera...up a mountainside to where fire still burns from crevices in the rocks, it was recommended we visit at night to get the full effect. Thankfully we walked up in daylight and back in the early evening ...

In Antalya we stayed in the Old Town which is quite a nice place with good food ...

Today Carne and I jumped on a tour (with 2 other kiwis and 2 Aussies from the ANZAC tour). Our first stop was the ancient ruins of Perge. The ruins cover a huge area, and is in its 60th year of restoration, all off the sculptures uncovered to date are on display at the Antalya museum.

We spent a pleasant hour exploring the excavations and ...

... at the entrance after about an hour, the big sign pointed upwards and stated 1km. It was a steep incline and the heat also seemed to rise. On reaching the Chimaera the flora gives way to open rock face with holes with various sized holes with flames flickering and some almost roaring out, and have done for hundreds of years. This is of course the famed Mountain of Zeus and after a lot of Greek family politics where King of Ephyra’s son Hippones kills his ...
