... It was very moving really to see the bits and bobs of a family, and what they had taken with them halfway round the world. Now to put things into perspective this weekend is the last long holiday weekend of the summer. It is the Waitangi holiday weekend. In the UK all places like this are full to overflowing with families on a day out, we had the place almost to ourselves !! Weirdly fantastic but what we've got used to now. We did see a school of large fish right near the hole though, and we saw the lady in the rock, a formation that looks like a woman's face who is said to watch out for those in the bay.

We went on a 4 hour boat cruise to go and snorkel with the Bottle nose Dolphins in the Bay of Islands. Well, the morning did not go as I had hoped...we did not find dolphins to swim with! ... of Russell which is a short ferry ride across from Paihia and will probably squeeze in another round of golf. The area is starting to get busy as summer is just around the corner here and this is a popular tourist destination and a place were many from the areas south of here have holiday homes. We plan on a couple of beach days relaxing before we head to Auckland for four days of city life next week! Cheers Dave and Cathy
