... look after birds that have been injured, we all got to pet a kiwi which is a native bird hence the nickname for New Zealanders, funny looking thing hopping around on two legs with no wings. ... Guess what I found???? feijoas! And they were cheap at $7.99 kg too :)

By this stage we were starving so we headed for the local takeaway shop where we ordered our first meal of fish and chops in NZ. (Spelling intended) We also ordered some banana fritters topped with cinnamon and sugar. Yum! … although I think I'll be downing some pain killers in the morning.

... two days prior to the mountain climb visiting local attractions, drinking beer and learning about Persian new year preparations. It was my first Couchsurfing experience and It was great :)! ... behave and show mutual respect. "This land does not belong to the Maoris. It belongs to Mother Earth!" Great Maori singing and dancing (not really dancing but don't know how else to describe it!) Is it genetic or do the Maoris develop a long tongue by exercising it? The motel is good value. Swimming pool, outside hot tub, tennis court nice room.
