June 24th – June 27th – Palo Duro State Park, Canyon, TX– Mesquite Camp Area #87

Ah, Texas. There is not another state like it, I don't think. Texans love their state as evidenced in almost everything you see and do. In Groom, TX, we visited a 19 story Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ with 13 stages of Christ’s crucifixion depicted in life sized bronze statues. All donated by ...

We got an early start yesterday morning, heading out from Austin at 6 a.m. Just got back from Beijing 36 hours prior, so the Texas countryside provided quite a contrast to the urban wasteland I've called home the past year and a half. I didn't know what was making all the noise outside but Wayne said it was sandhill cranes. I did go ...

Well, that would be another hour drive, but we took off. On the way, we were suddenly overcome by a cloud of stink so severe that we all had our shirts pulled up to just beneath our eyes to try and breathe. Of course the females thought this was hilarious thus began the descent ...

Camping in the Grand Canyon of Texas

This was Karl's first time camping in the US. So, instead of pulling into some roadside RV campsite next to the interstate in Amarillo, we found Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas panhandle. It was so beautiful and an nice change from the urban sprawl of Memphis.

I won't blab too long about Mochi, but let's just say that this is the last camping trip we ever ...
