    It's way cooler today and I get me **** into gear and head out for a morning walk up the hill ,,.its a good walk and it's so nice and quiet first thing ...I take in the sights as I power along ...sunflowers confused as to where to face as there is no sun ...magical morn ...home for green smoothie ...happiness green is my valley Off to the Astoni Bar ...

    You can never be in doubt about what time it is in Ficarra the clock ...just near by ...I think in the next room ...( no the big church clock tower) lets loose EVERY 15 minutes hence ..I had a bad nights sleep this lovely girl I met on the train bought me a good STRONG Italian coffee at around 6 it all added up to a sleepless night but hey goes on !! But hey ...nothing that two coffees at Astone Bar didn't fix. Big ...

    Because Insignia is a relatively small cruise ship, it is able to anchor in the bay off of Taormina. Larger ships need to dock in nearby Messina or Catania, as we have on previous cruises.

    It's actually a big deal, because seeing Taormina from the water is a treat. It’s nestled in the hills above the sea, and glowed golden for us in the morning sun.

    ... The day was very hot - 30C at 8am and probably close to 40C in the afternoon. As a result, we did not have the clearest views of Etna. Nevertheless, at 9am, while exploring Il Teatro, we saw two plumes rising from the still-active volcano. We took a taxi to Taormina (elevation 400m) and a regional bus up to Castelmola (550 to 600m).
