When I 1st reserved via the internet I thought that we'd maybe be in walking distance to everything. As it turned out we were just a couple of blocks from the train station, where we arrived at. The hotel is absolutely clean and decorated exactly as the photos showed on Trip Advisor and Hotels.com.
The staff made excellent suggestions and were so kind when we arrived.
We have already recommended this hotel to some travelers in Salzburg who are traveling to Munich.

This is the only place we will stay in Munich.

Historical Traveler Reviews King's Hotel First Class Munich

      Great Hotel!!

      from

Great location, it is close to the train station and a walkable distance to the shopping area of midtown Munich. The staff is wonderful! They make you feel like royalty at an afforadable and reasonable price. It was a great experience, I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Munich.

      Convenient, Clean and Friendly

      from

The hotel is very central and convenient being a 5 minute walk -about 2 blocks- from Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). This means it is very easy for transport with trains, trams and busses on your doorstep. It was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Like other reviewers, we also found that the air conditioning didn't work. The room and bathroom were on the small side. In all a well located, clean and comfortable hotel.

      Nice, but strange place

      from

I have very mixed feelings about this place. It does have a great location but the place is just strange. For one, hard core porn is on the TV and is not even blocked! We turned the TV on to check out the weather and 2 channels later, we got a lot more than weather. It is supposedly 'pay TV', but that was definitely not the case. Someone else mentioned it in their review, so I don't think it was just our room. Oddly enough, ESPN was blocked. Also, for being such a nice hotel, you'd think they'd have decent A/C. Nope. We had it on high the whole time, and it did not cool the place at all. I guess this wouldn't be a problem in the winter...

Also, we had made our reservation online using travelocity, and it was a prepaid reservation. BUT, during checkout, they asked up for our credit card, and charged us again. We did not have the email to prove it was prepaid, and they were going to charge us $6 to look it up online!!! So ridiculous. They finally reversed the credit card charge, and told us they'd check with travelocity, and charge us if we hadn't paid. We still haven't gotten the statement to know that they really didn't charge us again, but they were fairly nice about it, so I'm guessing it's ok.

Overall, this place is nice, but beware if you have kids and turn on the TV... and if you don't have kids and you do turn on the TV, you may find yourself with kids 9 months later :)

      Small But Nice

      from

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in June. The room was very nice but a bit small. Very clean and comfortable. The location was excellent as it is very near the main train station and within walking distance of the main pedestrian mall. Enjoyed it and would recommend to others.

      Clean, central and comfortable

      from

Very central but slightly difficult to find. Dachau Strasse is a major street which veers off into a small side street where the hotel can then be identified by it's gold coloured sign.

The easiest way of finding it is to look for the Hauptbanhoff (train station) which is just around the corner.

Hotel parking is good but you do have to pay to use it. As you are only 10-20 minutes walk into the town centre it is better to save the car for out of town trips. There are trams running outside the hotel. I wasn't sure which ticket to buy from the machine so only tried the tram once, although they are very efficient. Beware of all the cyclists, there are cycle lanes attached to almost every pavement.

The food ordered via room service was very good and breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately the restaurant does not serve evening meals, although you can order room service until about 11pm.

There is an Italian restaurant opposite the Hauptbanhoff called ?Ca' Dora which was very good despite the Lonely Planet Guide, printed a few years ago, saying that it is a tourist trap (we read that afterwards and disagree).

The air conditioning wasn't the best but the room was clean and the minibar fridge was handy for storing the beer bought from the nearby supermarket. The bar itself is quite small, is situated right at the main reception desk and was usually surrounded by American tourists. There was also a room opposite where you could take your drink to sit and watch football etc.

The hotel decor was quite pleasant and we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The hotel was obviously popular in ?the seventies. There are photos of celebrities of the past who have stayed there including the guy who played 'Columbo'.

      Two Thumbs Up!!!

      from

All I can say is I LOVED this hotel! Great location to the train station and conveniently located to major points of interest in Munich. The rooms were extremely clean and everyone that worked in the hotel was very helpful and courteous. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

      We Love You King's Hotel!!

      from

We stayed at King's Hotel about a year ago so our review is a little late but we so enjoyed our time their that we had to share! I did extensive internet research on Munich hotels before going and found it difficult to find a place that wasn't too expensive. After learning the hard way about what "pension" means, we ended up at the Kings Hotel. Oh Happy Day!! The staff was increadible (and bilingual), our room was clean and nicely decorated. We spent many evenings at the hotel bar (which is small) with Roberto who was so good to us. And when is free porn ever a bad thing? (we found that this is not a hotel thing but a European thing). This is an excellent location for international business travels as the staff is helpful and has the technology to assist with your needs. We would love to return someday!

      Dunka Kings!!

Had a stunnng stay at the Kings Hotel. The staff were on hand to make our stay absoluteley wunderbar!!! The bar is a must!!

      Good Location

      from

The Kings First Class Hotel is very close to Central Station and all the major sites and attractions. The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and had all the facilities I would expect of a hotel of this rating. I found no problem with the air conditioning (as mentioned by the previous reviewer). As for the Adult entertainment available on the Television, I can't comment as we were too busy visiting the sites and enjoying the fantastic food and Beer of this wonderful city.

      Sleaze and No Breeze

      from

Good Points - 1) Hotel is centrally located near train station.

      2) Rooms are small but clean. Bad Points - 1) Hard core porn is automatically piped into your room - you don't have to request it - it's just there. A card beside the TV said that they would shut it off if requested at the front desk. I requested but it was still there. I would never bring children(or anyone else) to this hotel.

      2) Hotel allegedly has Air Conditioning - but system did not cool room at all. I notified front desk - their response was that nothing could be done. I think that's unacceptable for an upscale hotel.

What a day, armed with our suggestions from Andreas, we set off for our day in Munich. We decided to get a bus ticket, hop-on hop-off type. On the bus we saw the city go past. It was very interesting, we first got off the bus at Schloss Nymphenburg, the summer palace of Ludwig the I and II. The gardens were beautiful and extensive, could not see …

... size in Munich: maß, which is about a liter of liquid served in a giant (and heavy!) 1.5L beer stein. Dan and Jared got Radlers, which is a half beer, half sprite mixture popular in Germany. As for food, we ate in true German style: currywurst, schnitzel, and the most giant pretzels we had ever seen. Yum! It was a wonderful way to spend a beautiful afternoon.

After stuffing ourselves to the brim, we headed out of the park towards our hostel. On our way, ...
