    ... our way to le Peuty, passing a heard of cows and our first goats. As the day was supposed to be a pleasant hike (14km, 2500ft) and feeling bad about missing the Fenetre d'Arpette the day before, we bumped into some fellow travellers who said they were heading to the col de Balme as well but rather were going via the Chalet de glacier.     ... Angela wowed us with fresh pizza. Mmmmm…felt like we were in a 5 star restaurant. Now that we knew where to get wine, we were on "sommelier duty" and she was the chef du jour! Once again she had us entranced with her European adventure stories, and had me making a mental note about all the Italian villages that we absolutely needed to visit.

    ... the tumbling water, up and down the slides and weaved in between the adults standing by. Half way through our stay, we were alerted to the “AQUAPARK EXTREME EXPOSITION!!!” Loud and powerful music enchanted us and we walked zombie-like to the grassed-in area around a dive tank – not before we were able to swipe our watches for French fries and mayonnaise…when in Europe…don’t ask. Again, differences are what I love ...

    ... some binbags became a cheerleader. You have to love the creativity born of the desire to party. We saw plenty of tinfoil,cardboard and various other bits scrounged from chalets to make costumes. Bathrobe belts create ninjas. Bedsheets and a carboard box become Noah and his ark. Plenty of animal onsies. Mardi Gras offeres the opportunity to drink and dance through til 10am.. . personally 4am was quite enough!
