... the bonfire for a while. It was pretty crazy, with a drum circle and people dancing around the fire and probably a couple hundred people there, and it lasted well into the night. ... a bed at their hostel, but they were full. I called around, and everywhere was actually full. I was sad, because that meant I had to hammock after walking so far, but at least I was still in town and I could grab a shower at the hostel where I set up my hammock. ... Words won't do it justice, so I'll just say that I was tempted to simply sit on top of the bald all day enjoying it, and I might have had it not been so windy and chilly. The bald's summit was a few miles before I hit the NC/TN border for the last time and the trail left NC for good, so it was like the state was trying to get hikers to stay by offering the best views of the trail so far.
