... Trisha did indeed kiss the blarney stone but not before we made sure there was antibactirial spary on the rock itself as millions of people pass thru there a year, so we have heard from the locals, that the Swine Flu is very prominent over here. The pictures will follow.....

Then onto Midelton where Jameson's is located. Here we took a tour of the old distillery which is not in use today. Along the tour we learned a lot of useful ...

Charles Fort, Kinsale Harbor, Cobh

Started off the day with a nice breakfast overlooking Kinsale Harbor, then off to Charles Fort. Charles Fort was one of many Irish Forts guarding the harbor of the town. It was drizzling out a little, so umbrellas were in store, but the drizzle stopped about half-way through our tour of the Fort. The fort had beautiful views of both the town of Kinsale and into the open ocean.
We then went back into ...

Blarney Castle, St Finbarre's Cathdral

Woke up this morning to pretty significant rainfall. Had a pleasant breakfast in the hotel and a bit of a conversation with the owners, since there were hardly any people in the dining room. We checked out and I loaded all of the luggage into the car. We also had to take care of a toll that our car went through in Dublin. When you go through a toll, you are given a number to call and you must provide credit card info in order to pay your toll. That took a ...

... silhouette of the city is dominated with a giant Gothic Cathedral with its stained glass windows, tall point spires, and flying buttresses. The hills on which the city is built still decorate the buildings on them with patches of green shrubs and trees. But our walk thru the town was more abbreviated than we would have liked because of the strong breezes that came rushing in from the ocean thru the rain. This caused us to several times to have to manually reshape our ...

On our last day in Ireland Chris, Cass and I headed back to Cork early so we could take the opportunity to visit Blarney and kiss the famous Blarney Stone: Watch out everyone, could we be more eloquent!! The next morning we farewelled our great friends and look forward to visiting with them in the future

... is one of the few things that have become much easier as we age. And since we were coach all the way, it isn't only the first-class seats. So we got here on Monday, today we went to Tesco and got a lot of the supplies we needed and experimented slowly on that other side of the road driving thing. All good. We are supplied, settled, and adjusted by Tuesday evening. I hope to hear from you all. You have my email addy.

... evening, unlike stores in the U.S.) We ate dinner at a lovely Italian restaurant and then we drove back to the inn. One thing I love about towns in Ireland is that the store fronts are all different colors - bright green, orange, purple, etc. Although Cork seemed less like a tourist destination than the other towns we visited, it had character and it would have been fun to spend more time exploring the city.

Hurling Crowds, Sore head, and last day in Cork

... with a couple of bean bags and zonked out to a spot of 'Trainspotting' - a fine film that never seems to get old on me. I felt a certain affinity with the locations of the film since i last saw it, my mind expanded by having experienced the UK first hand once and for all. Less exciting was the evening viewing of 'Wimbledon', a particularly pukesome and smack-your-bootheel-over-the-back-of-yo ur-head-ishly corny film. Having said that i reckon ...
