WOW. What an incredible three days in paradise! The Maldives was one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen—the pictures can speak for themselves. We were on a private island resort, and our room was in a bungalow on stilts over the Indian Ocean.

Highlights:

• Sunsets—all three of them were gorgeous and we could watch them from the balcony over the water in our room.
• Snorkeling—we saw sharks, eels, ...

... we left, I was delighted to see a return of the traditional boduberu drumming in the streets. Walking down to check it out, I found a house decorated with coloured lights and tinsel. Men beat drums, men danced outside and a nice man offered me a seat and a Coke so that I could watch. I didn't see the young man who was the focus of the attention. I presume he was inside preparing for, or recovering from, his circumcision - because that's what all the festivities were for.

That was one of the best hour I’ve ever had. 2 Mantas were feeding, they were so close they sometimes touched me. A few times I wasn’t sure they would turn before swimming into me, with their open mouths. I could hear them coming. It was a special noise they made while swimming, it’s super hard to explain, but I just knew they were close to me.
