... pretty exciting – along with millions more little fish. Coral was very good on these reefs too.

My deal was pretty good but I was surprised how inexpensive things were – food, drink and the excursions. The buffet dinner at the hotel was $US 13, including all taxes, although there were more expensive options (crab etc). I think some of the other hotels on the island were a little more up-market ...

The local surf break is called Cokes. Coincidentally the island has the only Coca-Cola producing factory in the world which uses desalinated water. Fascinating stuff eh? I had often wondered where the Coca-Cola company got its name from. It would have been nice to have a poke around the factory, but visitors weren't welcome. The rear didn't look quite as 'adding life' as the front.

On that particular day there was only one white female and that was me. I had my doubts as to the authenticity of the man who lead me away. These doubts were not eased when he took me to a car with no taxi sign, no working seatbelts and dodgy windows. He also spoke no English. Welcome to India!

... I noticed the schools of fish around me all went into a bit of a frenzy which sent alarm bells. I slowly lifted by head and right in front of me coming my way were two white tipped reef sharks. Yes, I know they will not eat me but it makes no difference. They still scare me. I screamed above the water to Huw but by the time he came they were gone.
