... wasn't an all dayer, then I would've been there for sure). Heading out on the boat for snorkelling to a reef not far from the island. The water is gorgeous - I can't wait to jump off the boat and get into it... Even if it is for the last time. I'll miss this. I may need to acquire a boat in Australia... Time has escaped me, snorkelling is over and it's back to Kandooma. Boats are on their way out, as mine is going in... my "wanna be bf" ...

... DING DING DING Correct! It's an area of about 32 acres, with one side of the island protected and the other, on the receiving end of swell aka waves. My two storey villa is on the protected side of the island. The heart of the island harbours the desalination plant and the staff village. It has all the facilities a resort in the Maldives should have but I won't harp on about those. The accommodation - Every villa is a separate stand alone structure, all facing ...

... locals living there and no alcohol. Apparently when the tsunami hit in 2004 the island was badly damaged. But it was rebuilt with a robust sewerage system, meaning that guesthouses and tourists soon followed. The old boats on the beach and the black-tipped reef sharks which came right up to the shore were highlights of the short meander around the island.

The diving around Maafushi was great - we went into ...
