... help but look and feel totally hopeless.<br>Of course my debit was retrieved, I was able to purchase my new child's flip-flops and eventually I made it back on the boat to Chumphon. While the weekend may not have been so grand at the time, I managed to meet some great people, enjoy a kayak trip out to another island and ultimately gained a few more "traveler's" stories. Still loving Thailand.<br>Hope you all are well.<br>J

... on the beach the rains came again and we retired to the hotel for some fantastic thai curry and more sleep. Fingers crossed tom the weather will sort its self out but in fairness we can't grumble as this is the first real day the rain has disrupted us and we were expecting more of it as its the rainy season. I've now more than likely jinxed the rest of the trip but oh well. Looking forward to exploring the island tom.<br><br>Gaz &amp; LJ

... made for a truly spectacular viewing dining experience.<br><br>Hard to beat??............wait for the tomorrow!!<br><br>We are in bed by 10:00PM............for the family will collect us at 7:30AM!!........we are off for a full day to Ranong.......some 120 kilometres west south west.....right on the Thai/Myanmar border.<br><br>It promises to be another Red Carpet ride..........and we already love these people.........just beautiful!!<br><br>Cheers!!!<br>

... spots. On another dive we saw an elusive octopus that was changing colour and hiding behind rocks - such amazing creatures!! But then, on our second last dive came the most amazing spot of the trip... as we were making our way out into the big blue, our group turned to see what they call a 'big black aeroplane' coming up behind us... one of the most elegant, beautiful things I have ever seen - a 3.5 metre Manta Ray ...

... and so we had more people trying to get us on a minibus. They said we would have to wait till 8am for the bus but I told them that was OK. We ordered some breakfast in the cafe as it was the only place open at that time. My muesli was horrible and I didn't eat it, both the yogurt and the muesli tasted old. We ended up walking to the bus station and got the 8am bus to Ranong for only 100B each.

... been before. its been way too long since i have had that uncomfortable feeling of not knowing what the hell im doing and where the hell im going. its a bit unsettling but that is backpacking i suppose. Anyway, just wanted to pop on here and say yay for my 4 year anniversary and wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. dont party too hard or it might fall off

... bags in at the station and walked diagonally across the road from the station to a restaurant, where we killed an hour, eating and listening to the Thai musicians some of those Thai female singers can really hit a high pitch!! The train arrived a little late and we jumped in our 'class 2' air con carriage = shared sleeping quarters with a bit of cooling. I couldn't sleep at first so I sat up and read for a while, just as my light was going off, a bunch ...

... There's lots of rebuilding going on, but there's still a lot to do. The area's not quite so laid back as it was and the new building is mainly resort-type hotels, not the more beach-hutty atmosphere that we found last time. Today, we saw a 100' long police launch which has been left where it came to rest after the tsunami - nearly 2 kilometres inland! Will write again after the wedding tomorrow. Love to everyone.
